About The Artist:
I express emotional reaction with color. I take brush to surface and create a chosen thought, until it has been transferred and contained on a physical plane; and the painting is complete. Each work defines a moment in time for me, a person, or a place that impacted me in such a way that I feel a need to physically construct the memory. One color will be placed on another to create depth, and placement of pigment directs the eye. Sometimes the work includes elements of fragmentation, like racing thoughts, other times a contradiction of color and symbol invite mental exploration. Exhibited art is for the viewer, a way to travel without taking a step.
My first formal training was with Ouida Canady in the late sixties. I later attended The Atlanta College of Art.
I was an artist in the early Piedmont Arts Festivals and the Yellow Daisy Festival. I moved to Florida and participated in the juried sidewalk art circuit, which included The Festival of the Masters. I have sold work through galleries, to corporations, and private individuals.
I now create in my studio at the Tannery Row Artist Colony in Buford Georgia. I am a member of the Duluth Fine Arts League, The Kudzu Art Zone, in Norcross, and The Hudgens Center for the Arts, in Duluth.
