About The Artist:

Christine Prather Canova grew up in Pennsylvania where she first studied art at Mercyhurst Preparatory School.  At Jacksonville University in Florida, Chris received a cash award from the Art Department and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Fine Art.  Her concentration was in watercolor and later used that skill for rendering houses for an award winning Residential Design firm and individual builders and developers in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Today, Chris enjoys experimenting with acrylic on various types of paper. She uses natural elements to create abstract images and then finishes the pieces with minimal elements of realism.

In March, 2010, Chris published a children’s book that she wrote and collaboratively illustrated with fellow artist, Jim Klippel.  “What Happened That Day?” is an ABC adventure book designed to assist learning to read in a whimsical manner which actively involves the child in identifying the stylized letters which are incorporated in the illustrations.

Chris and Jim paint collaboratively in acrylic on canvas.  They both have a passion for nature.  Jim and Chris have painted several series but their “Symphony at Sea” series remains their favorite.  This series of paintings are often used as donations to Marine Mammal Conservation and to the Veterinarian Services at the Georgia Aquarium.  All of their collaborative pieces are created to capture the vitality of the spirit with sweeping strokes of energy and vibrant, rich colors.

Chris enjoys experimenting with acrylic on various types of paper incorporating natural elements to create abstract images and then finishing the pieces with minimal elements of realism.

Chris and Jim’s collaborative work may be found in private and corporate collections in the US and Europe as well as Atlanta local restaurants.
